Silver Bullion: The worlds most used precious metal

In our opinion, silver has always produced a greater percentage of increase during precious metal bull markets. In previous precious metal bulli markets, silver has tripled in price, while goldi has doubled.  Additionally, silver has more industrial applications than gold does, with more uses constantly in development.

In recent years the price of gold has soared. It now takes more than 47 ounces of silver to buy just one ounce of gold. Based on historic ratios, silver could triple and still be undervalued compared to gold. If silver matched its previous high in inflation-adjusted dollars it would be over $130 an ounce.

Some of silvers many uses include:  coinage, photography, silverware and table settings, batteries, bearings, brazing and soldering, catalysts, electronics including computers and appliances, electricity, medical applications, mirrors and coatings, solar energy, and water purification.

  • In 2007, 455.5 million ounces of silver were used for industrial applications; more than 128 million ounces of silver were bought by the photography sector; 163.4 million ounces were consumed in the jewelry market; and 58.8 million ounces were used for silverware.
  • More silver has been used since 1990 than has been produced and stocks are being depleted.
  • The 1990-2003 overall deficit of silver was 2,214 million ounces.
  • It is estimated that more than 95% of all the silver ever mined throughout history has already been used and is gone forever and unrecoverable at any price.

SILVER IN IRA’s
In 1997, silver investments were allowed into IRA plans. Although Silver Eagles are also allowed in IRAs, we believe larger bars are the better silver choice for IRAs because bullioni bars sell at significantly lower premiums than do Silver Eagles.

We recommend 1,000-ounce silver bars for IRA’s. Premiums are lower on 1,000-ounce bars, and when placed in an IRA, they are stored in a third party depository, eliminating the challenge of personal storage. The minimum purchase for Silver bars is 100 ounces.
