Joan Checkan, who you will notice has the same last name as the company President and Vice President, is the mother of ASI’s Vice President, Rich Checkan. Joan came to ASI after working as a secretary at a private school for 38 years. She brought her years of experience to ASI in October of 2006 as an Administrative Assistant in the Operations Department and the secretary of our former Executive Vice President, Glen Kirsch. Joan has many general, administrative responsibilities and maintains our vast filing system. Joan also jumps in and assists the Special Project Manager, Elena Keller with large projects. Joan enjoys her varied, challenging responsibilities so she is never bored. ASI enjoys her “can do” attitude and willingness to help out where ever she is needed. Joan is from New Jersey but has lived in Maryland for more than 5 years. She is the mother of 3 and has 3 grandchildren and is a lifetime member of The Girl Scouts Of America.
