Silver Bullion Coins

THE UNITED STATES MINTi
In 1792, silver was first minted into dollar coins. Today, the number one silver bullion coini in the world is the Silver American Eagle. Silver Eagles are tangible and beautiful investments. They are .999 fine silver, the finest silver coins ever issued by the US.

  • The Eagle’s design is based on A.A. Weinman’s “Walking Liberty,” introduced on the 1917 silver half-dollar.  An eagle and shield, displaying American strength and pride, backs the coin.

  • The Eagles are welcome in investment markets worldwide and can even be included in an IRA.

THE AUSTRALIAN MINT
The Perth Mint’s Australian Kookaburra, the Australian Koala, and the Australian Lunar silver bullion coins are 99.9 fine, stunning, and highly collectible. Each series’ reverse artistry changes annually, and have limited mintages.

The Perth Mint, founded in 1899, introduced their silver bullion coins in 1990. The government of Australia guarantees each coins quality.

The Australian Kookaburra

  • A kookaburra is the largest member of the kingfisher species.
  • Only 300,000 1-ounce kookaburras are released each year.
  • There is no mintage limit to 1 kilo and 10-ounce kookaburra coins.

The Australian Koala

  • The koala is one of Australia’s most popular animals.
  • There is no mintage limit to the koalas, but production closes at the end of each year.  At the end of each year The Perth Mint will declare each coin’s official mintage.
  • I kilo, 10-ounce, and 1-ounce coins are available.  One-half ounce coins were only available until March 2010.

The Australian Lunar Series

  • Each year’s release portrays one of the twelve animals associated with the ancient Chinese lunar calendar.
  • The Perth Mint will only produce up to 300,000 1-ounce coins or cease production at the end of the year, whichever comes first.
  • A maximum off 500 10-kilo coins will be produced on a made to order basis.  The actual mintage will be declared when production closes at the end of the year.

THE CANADIAN MINT
canadian silver maple leaf coinIn 1988, the silver Maple Leaf coin was introduced. The coin is .9999 fine silver and the Canadian government guarantees its purity.  It is a $5 denomination coin, though the metal it contains is typically much more valuable than the face valuei of the coin. These coins are recognized worldwide making them highly liquid.

THE AUSTRIAN MINT
austrian silver philharmonic coinThe Vienna Philharmonic coin was first minted in 2008 to celebrate the Vienna Philharmonic orchestra.  It is one troy ouncei of .999 fine silver, guaranteed by the Austrian government. One side of the coin depicts an arrangement of musical instruments representing the world famous orchestra. The obversei of the coin shows the great organ in the Golden Hall of Vienna’s concert hall.  It is official legal tenderi in Austria, though the bullion content is far more valuable than 1.5 Euros.

THE CHINESE MINT
First minted by The People’s Republic of China, in 1980, the silver bullion Panda series is extremely popular worldwide. The obverse is redesigned each year (except for 2002) with a different view of the giant panda in his habitat. The reverse of the coin depicts Tien Tien, The Temple of Heaven, one of the oldest temples in Beijing and remains the same from year to year. The coins are .999 fine.
